I had my Orthodontist appointment today and that went well. They started the next step to bring my tooth bottom front teeth up so hopefully I won't need these darn things on for too much longer! Of course it is my fault that they are back on in the first place...stupid retainer...walking off so I can't find you, not cool. My mouth has had too long of a history of problems. I won't go into details but if you're dying to know, just ask!
Then I went to my work to drop off a direct deposit form but when I got there they told me I needed something else with it, of course, so I just went home and was bored so I decided to organize what my next blog would be! Yayyyy...blogggg....whoooo. So as you can see, it has been a thrilling day so far. Oh and what makes it even more thrilling is the painful cramps and soreness from my leg workout on sunday...Yayyyy...painnnn...whoooo. So needless to say I will be drugged up on IB Prophen or however you spell it, for the next few days.
Oh yea! My sister also told my parents about this guy that she is seeing right now. He lives in Arizona, works for the FBI, and is also 40 years old! My parents were excited about that...not really. I must say however, that he doesn't look his age at all, I would have guessed he was 32-35 to be honest. He also is a devoted Christian and really does seem like a great guy. My sister also told my parents that she wasn't looking for their opinion or judgement, she just wanted to let them know where she was going this weekend. Go her!
I will let you guys know how I did on my goal for today when I get home tonight!
So here we go!
Healthy Tips and Goals!
So the third week of school has started, or second for some people, and I decided that I wanted to find some tips on improving your brain to be healthier and to learn better. Sure enough my book had some tips for that! 10 Ways to Exercise Your Brain. I promise I won't go over all ten in this blog, I'll do one or two at a time to spare you readers from reading an even longer Blog than it already is. =) So here are the first two:
- Dedicate yourself to new learning. The book says to set aside 15 mins during your day to learn something new. Einstein said that if anyone spends 15 mins per day learning something new, in a year he or she(they were being sexist by only saying he so i added the she) will be an expert. As in school or business, commitment is critical to achieving greatness, or great brains! What I say to that is that it's a great idea! Einstein was a pretty smart guy from what people have told me (Random Fun Fact: Einstein couldn't ride a bike well, if not at all) and I think he is on to something here! For us college students we could just say we sit in class most days of the week and learn stuff but I challenge you to learn something outside of class for fun! Take something that always interested you but you didn't really know much of and look it up. Go to the library or on-line. Just 15 mins a day is all you have to do. My mom bought me a weather book down in D.C. I was always interested in weather, heck i even job shadowed Terri DeBoer for WoodTV8 in 8th grade. So what I'm going to do is read that book for 15 mins each day. After that's done I'll find something else!
- Take a class about something new and interesting. Attend a new class on a subject totally unrelated to your day-to-day life. It is important to challenge your brain to learn new and nobel things, especially processes that you've never done before. It also helps develop agility and hand-brain coordination.
So there you have it, I probably should have only done one but too late...I already typed everything out. I tend to go on rants about things and before you know it, I have a ten page blog! I'm still not done either! Oh don't you sigh at me, I'm almost done, bare with me. You know you don't have to read my blog if you don't want to. But hey, this could count as your 15 mins of learning something new! Bonus!
Goals for tomorrow:
Do my 15 mins of reading my weather book and also make a list of classes or hobbies to look into. Pick a couple and then actually challenge myself to figure out what I need to do to get into a class or get started on a hobby.
5 Things I am grateful for:
- Being alive and well
- Having clothes to wear
- Having a car to drive
- Having an amazing, loving, and caring God to look out for me
- Having the ability to go out and try new things
Healthy Diet and Exercise Tip of the day:
Drink LOTS of water. 80% (that's a lot!) of your brain and most of you body is made up of water so hydration is a huge thing! Even being slightly dehydrated can cause stress and damage your brain over time. I read in my packet that the recommended amount of water you should drink is 84 oz a day. That's a lot of water, especially if you're a non-drinker like I am. To put it in perspective 84 oz of water is equal to 10.5 cups or two and a half of the big bottles of smart water (that what is sitting on my desk right now if you wondered where the smart water came from). So that being said DRINK! Also, I hear this from my mom all the time but read about it too, drinking lots of water helps you lose weight too, pop definitely doesn't do that. True my challenge and cut back if not completely cut off pop. Trust me, it's hard, I have caved several times but I keep trying! Whenever I think of a pop, I grab a glass of water instead. So try and let my know what you think =).
Now time for my Fact of the Day!
I was reading cosmo last night and came across several weird things. One that like was crazy was this. Someone asked "What's the smallest penis ever recorded?" Answer : five eighths of an inch! I feel sooooooooo bad for who's ever that was or is. Oh and the animal with the longest penis is a whale clocking in at 10 feet.
So guys, sorry for such a long blog! I guess I kinda get carried away. I almost feel like a teacher with all of these facts and tips stuff. I should say though that I am not a teacher and not certified in anything. I'm just going based on what I've experienced myself and what others have told me so I'm not guaranteeing all of these things work. Everyone is different and different things work for different people! Well it's been wonderful. Feel free to give me feedback on anything! I hope you all have a great rest of the day or night if that's when you read this =) Off to work I go!
Peace and Blessings =)
