Today after much though however, I began to realize a lot of things. First of all, don't be friends with asses who treat you like their whore no matter how nice they can be to you at times. Second, I really shouldn't stay friends with guys that I've dated. Most times than not I end up liking them again and it's not good. Third, I realized how I do really have some great friends and don't know what I would do without them. Fourth, how little changes you make can make a huge difference in your life. This brings me to my next thing.
I started reading the huge notebook of papers the Doctor gave to me when I left D.C. He didn't just give me results but he also put in a lot of things to help improve your brain, health, and life. It really opened my eyes to see how conceded, greedy, and hurtful I am to myself and to others. I made a lot of mistakes in the past and would give anything to take a lot of them back but by this trip to D.C. and what the Doctor and the notebook says, I really believe this will help me change my life around. It's almost like a fresh start to a new life. Maybe I'm over exaggerating a bit but I am starting to feel better already. I know that I want to become the honest, nice girl that I once was and I think I can do that.
I also want to share the things I learn with you guys. Maybe you'll use these tips, maybe not, it's your choice. So I was thinking that for each blog I do, I will have a Healthy Tip and Goal section. I will give tips about certain topics each day and also make my own goal for the day and for the week and let you know in the next blog whether I achieved my goal or not. You guys can do these things right along with me if you would like. It would be cool to know who it works for and who it doesn't work for. Everyone is different. Give it a try, it won't hurt! So here we go.
Healthy Tips and Goals: Don't be sad, be glad! (I know, cheesy, but deal with it =D )
These are some tips on things to do when you are having a bad day or are upset about something.
- List 5 things you are grateful for today. This helps you realize that you do have good things in your life even though at the moment it might not feel like it.
- Whenever you are sad, mad, or even nervous, go ahead and just write down the thoughts you are having. Most of them are negative and you will find that in those situations you mind will lie to you and give you more reason to feel those ways.
- Write down some of the goals you have in life and see if your mood and behavior you have that day will bring you closer to those goals or farther away.
- Write or Blog about things troubling you. Sometimes just getting things down on paper will help you feel better and you can think more clearly.
- Don't be afraid to talk to someone, whether it's the person you're not happy with, or just a good friend. Sometimes it's just good to get things off your mind. Be careful though you're trying to make things right, not make things worse, if you see an argument coming, agree to disagree. Not everyone sees eye to eye.
A lot of those things I have to work on for myself. I get angry easily and like to argue my point to the death. Hopefully in time it will get better.
My goal for tomorrow is whenever I think a negative thought, I'm going to make it into a positive thought and write each one down. Most negative thoughts are irrational. So just identify why it's irrational,
(ex. you only are looking at the bad side of the situation or you're beating yourself up with guilt.) Then you think of a positive thought or why you're thinking that way.
So this is one of the example the book gives: Your negative thought: "I'm stupid" The irrational part or the type of negative thought: The book calls it labeling and it's irrational because because you're not looking at yourself in a clear way in that situation. The positive thought: "Sometimes I do things that aren't too smart, but I'm not stupid."
My Goal for this week is to think of 5 thing that I'm grateful for everyday.
Today's 5 things are:
Having clean water to drink
Having a home to sleep in
Having loving parents
Having a job
Having an awesome sister
Last but not least my fact of the day:
Video games have been found to work in the basal ganglia which is one of the pleasure centers of the brain. It is also the part of the brain that lights up when someone gets injected with cocaine. (By the way...that's not really a good thing...)
So thanks guys for putting up with my super long blog today. The rest shouldn't be this long. I don't think so at least. =D. Until next time, be happy and think positive!
Alana
I feel that everyone should try to do this as well. I know I certainly will be. I'm trying to gain a new outlook on life.
